Ratings Boost? Unions Bring Protest To WTIC-1080
The Connecticut Laborers’ District Council will gather outside the studios of WTIC tomorrow to protest the “trash talk radio” of former Gov. John Rowland. What better boost for his show could there be than than a crowd of angry unionists outside?
According to the council, the unions don’t like what Rowland has to say about unions on his afternoon radio show:
The Connecticut Laborers’ are protesting Rowland’s continual biased and hateful talk against unions, public projects such as the CTfastrak (Busway) project and the spending of state tax dollars.

The unions don’t like Johnny and they don’t like Dannel…who do the unions like….oh, I know, Chris Donovan
Hey Sharpshooter…the unions aren’t too fond of me as well!
Dirty Donovan and unions…bird of feather, well you know the rest. Only a union punk thug like Donovan would continue to stay in this race…pure hubris!
Ask them about that $300 million in “Race to the Top” money blocked by the Teachers Unions.
What happened in Wisconsin will happen here.
Keep up the great work Gov. Unions are losing power across the country and it’s just a matter of time before the day of reckoning happens here. Americans are awake and watched the lawless union tactics in Wisconsin. So the unions will protest and boycott TIC because they can’t handle the fact that the Gov is shining a bright light on the brazen consequences of four decades veto-proof, corrupt(Donovan), one-party-rule here in this progressive liberal state.
OK, I don’t like Johnny “the Beggar” Rowland very much. He’s wrong about a lot of things in addition to being a convicted felon. But as the saying goes, “A broken clock is right, twice a day,” and so it is with Rowland. He’s correct that the state’s labor unions … in particular the public-employee unions … have far, far too much power over this state, and are exacting far too great a toll. He’s also correct that the busway is too much money to spend with too little resulting benefit.
I get that all the mass-transit proponents are eager to get something — anything! — out in place as soon as possible. But this project will cover only one small “spoke” in the large wheel of metropolitan Hartford’s traffic. Its effect will be minimal at best. The rest of metro Hartford will remain as choked as it was before the busway was ever conceived. Its proponents refuse to concede even this small but unassailable fact … which is why, quite frankly, I can’t believe anything else they say about the busway.
That said, as I’ve stated before, I still think WTIC could have done better in finding a spokesman for Rightism in CT. Surely there’s a law-abiding Rightist with no criminal record out there they could have called upon to whip the legions of the Right into shape?
Please include more details in the article. We’re curious for the when and where so we can join the rally.
We need a Walker run the state not a Malloy.
As far as John being a convicted felon, it seems the Democrats will be putting one up for election in Bridgeport.
WTIC is not an ideological entity. It’s only interested in ratings and income. If it could conjure up a popular liberal talk show host it would drop Rowland like a rock. But hiring a liberal is a ratings “kiss of death”.
Rowland has few sharp edges. His thirty-year political career has honed his friendly skills – he’s a perfect fit for radio. WTIC should reward it’s loyal listeners from time to time, however. Perhaps allowing Martha Dean to guest host one day might be a real coup!
Put Martha Dean on radio??? Are you kidding me??? She isn’t even fit to polish Rowland’s shoes.
Way to go Gov! Don’t let those union bullies stop you from telling the truth!
“Put Martha Dean on radio??? Are you kidding me??? She isn’t even fit to polish Rowland’s shoes.”
I know she can polish shoes, but I’m sure she’s had no experience stamping out license plates!
Rowland speaks the truth about the unions, they are the ruination of our state, keep it up John. Chris Donovan, I am glad you are ” hanging in there “, the longer you do, the more the stench of Connecticut’s corrupt politics will waff throughout the state and expose just how crooked our politicians are. Thank you also, Feds, stay on the job. It may be you who save our state from corrupt leaders, something the voters have yet to wake up to.
Attention Democrat politicians and their union thug puppet masters: If the shoes fits, wear it.
The truth hurts.Way to go Governor keep turning up the heat. The one Party System ruling us is killing us.
Why do they fear coming on the show for a rebuttal?I guess they can’t argue facts.
The frustration over the unions needs to include the non-union management class of appointees and hirees and those promoted out of the union.
In many ways these supervisory classes are part of the public sector problem.
>> State government will issue nearly $10.3 million in longevity payments to senior employees on Thursday, Oct 13, 2011 including nearly $6.2 million to non-union executives, managers and other staff and $4.1 million to union workers, according to numbers released Friday by Comptroller Kevin P. Lembo <<
Governor Rowland owns the 3-6 drive time/ prime-time air waves in CT. Leftists can’t understand why Vicevich, Limbaugh, and Rowland are the Kings of radioland…while they throw into the ring Colon McEnroe from 1-2 on WNPR. Talk about a lightweight’s time slot…what Sunday morning from 5-7 wasn’t open? I’ve been in WNPR’s parking lot and still had a difficult time picking it up. Talk about not ready for prime time! McEnroe’s heart beats faster, his eyes turn green, (and in the words of the hockey announcer from the movie “Slapshot” he wants “To kill, kill, kill!”). It’s fun reading Green and McEnroe go after Rowland, it’s never fail, but it’s nevertheless fun.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
I drove by the station at about 2:30, there were about 20-25 people there protesting, 1 dog, and 1 cop car.
it was a JOKE.
