This Won’t Help: Politico Picks Up Donovan I-Am-Not-Incompetent Story

This is what happens when you won’t talk. Chris Donovan’s refusal to speak about the arrest that brought down his campaign’s finance director is now attracting national interest. Politico’s must-read Morning Score today links to the scandal.

Unable to get Donovan, the House Speaker and 5th District Congressional candidate, to say much of anything during a Face The State interview on Sunday, Dennis House asked whether he was up to the job. The Junkie has the play-by-play.

“I’m a very good manager,” he said. “There was a mistake in my campaign.”

When asked how many staff members his campaign employs, Donovan said he did not precisely know.

“I really don’t have that number right now,” adding that his campaign employs five to 10 paid staffers.
