Urban Violence Strategy Announcement

Top elected officials, worried about a summer with high youth unemployment and rising tensions, will announce a new plan that targets the most violent youthful offenders. The effort aims to combine the resources of state, local and federal law enforcement with community groups, I’m told.

The mayors of Hartford and New Haven and the U.S. Attorney for Connecticut will join Gov. Dannel Malloy for an afternoon announcement of the initiative at the state capitol.

Learn about this new strategy and how it worked in elsewhere in the video below.

No drones? Virginia’s Governor wants drones. Chicago needs Drones and Robocops. Comparing the war casualties in Afghanistan versus Illinois and there’s an obvious question: which country needs smore policing and more Gitmos and Abu Ghraibs? Which is abigger threat to American life? Chicago (and gang murders) or Afghanistan?

Waterboarding in Chicago? That would endear Obama to the Cornell West’s and academic liberals.

I find it funny that the article clearly states that high youth unemployment and tensions due to people in general being angry because of the state of the economy are problems that fuel to the violence in our communities but the strategy that our elected officials have in combating violence don’t reach far enough. You can’t further aid to the tensions and distrust people have toward law enforcement. Keep our communities safe but also there needs to be an economic development alternative to create jobs as well as more community oriented programs.
