“must serve all of its students well, not just those who are college-bound” – but who do they list as no. 1, the IBA where 100% took AP tests

  2. SteveinWH says:

Which presumes that all at this specialized academy are there because they are college-bound….

  3. Phil P says:

Dave is 100% wrong: CIBA students do not take AP exams they take International Baccalaureate exams, which many colleges do not accept for credit. CIBA is an example of great teaching and managment coupled with a very diverse, focused student body.

  4. hmmm says:

Not surprisingly each of these schools (except for CIBA) are located in towns where the median income for a household is over $100,000.

  5. John says:

How the heck is Norwich Free Academy not on this list??? And, yes, I am a graduate, so I have some bias!! But, c’mon, with all that it offers, the place has got to be top 10 in CT!!!!

  6. Dave says:

My fault – all of the other schools’ ratings taken and passed were based on AP exams. Still not a fair comparison and skewed against their comment of serving all students. Look at the actual data they used, not the summary.

  7. Patricia Droney says:

Can’t we just take a minute and reflect on the hard work put in every day by faculty, staff, students, parents and supporters that make such accomplishments happen?

  8. Hmmm II. says:

I totally agree with Hmmm on this one,why do you think that is?

So…this list was compiled using CAPT and AP exam results from a single academic year (2 years ago). The CAPT exam is taken only by sophomores. So what we’re looking at is a snapshot from 2 years ago that is based on one sophomore class worth of CAPT results and one senior class worth of AP data. And now we’re ranking our schools based on this. My town’s high school went from a silver medalist to being unranked in one year. And we think this is relevant…why?
