Journal Inquirer Profits from Advertising Pornography
Hypocritically, on the very same day that Mr. Powell of the Journal Inquirer implied that WWE is in the “business of pornography,” the Journal Inquirer itself was advertising Choice Video, an adult DVD store, in Manchester, CT. Choice Video sells explicit videos that depict sadomasochism, orgies and other unmentionable forms of sex, and also promotes ESCORT SERVICES. To our knowledge, no other newspaper in the state of Connecticut advertises where such pornography can be purchased except the Journal Inquirer. WWE is not in the “business of pornography.” Is the Journal Inquirer?

They had better start caring about this candidate for it was under her stewardship of the company that the worst of their programming took place.I think the last poll indicates if you flood the airwaves you are bound to get a bump in your numbers…..whether she has staying power is of great debate. All one has to do is look back to some of the 2010 polling to see a similar scenario but it failed to hold.Once there is more media visibility by Congressman Shays,and more importantly the debates… I think we will see much different results.So I think it would be unwise at this early juncture for the MacMahon team to be too celebratory
It is still a very long way til August.
Elliott– it is your opinion that the programming was “bad” under Linda McMahon’s reign, and that’s certainly fine. Regardless, my interpretation of the recent poll is that, as Rick indicates, voters just don’t care about this topic anymore. What WWE does or did do is out there, and it’s old news. Linda McMahon has a real shot at winning this race now, like it or not. So, now that we know what voters DON’T care about, it would be refreshing to start hearing more discussion around the very real issues in front of us and how these candidates plan to address them. There’s a whole lot of finger pointing (as usual) and not a lot of meaningful and articulate campaigning on real CT issues. No one should wonder why the average guy doesn’t race to the polls anymore– I may as well pull a name from a hat. I’d be just as likely to know who the best candidate is that way. The media is just as crooked in this game. The truth is hard to come by, and no one seems to want to talk about “real” issues. Maybe I don’t know what those are either, but I know it ain’t WWE.
Interesting, the HC also owns the Advocate which promotes prostitution and the slave trade. Our own President making jokes alluding to the 1st Lady Moochelle going “down” on another woman and people accuse Linda off degrading?
Typical…why should we expect more from Liberals.
Perhaps after the Walker smack down the tide may shift in Lindas favor.
Everyone seems to be missing the point here…..So let us Review the facts in this controversy.The Journal Inquirer published an OPINION piece by their managing editor that was unflattering to Ms. McMahon…..enter the WWE who then threatens the JI with a libel suit ….a foolish move at best….that has unleashed the ire of Connecticut ‘s fourth estate.Ms McMahon claims to adhere to the principles set forth in the Constitution yet she allows her former company to blatantly assault the first amendment …. while claiming to be unaware of the situation.A true profile in courage.When a person runs for elective office their entire life is laid bare and is fair game for their opponents and the press.Politics is a blood sport…..the JI is not running for the senate,but Ms. McMahon is.. therefore her past will be scrutinized.I applaud the press for their diligence in the vetting of candidates…..for that is their role.I dare say that if Ms. McMahon was not a person with very deep pockets she would not have had the proverbial snowballs chance in hell
of securing a nod from the Ct GOP.it will be interesting to see this play out in the coming weeks and judging from the internals of the recent poll…there are thankfully quite a few voters who do care about a persons character.

Shame on you, Rick Green, for your amateur and uninformed characterization of voters. The fact is that the J-I has a spine and the Courant, in obvious jealousy, can’t muster enough of its own to simply champion a competitor’s efforts to shine light on a political dirty trick masquerading as righteous indignation. The Democrats are such prissy prudes this year. I mean COME ON! Every movie has a humping scene, the soap operas really are soft-porn and sex is used to sell even unsexy things like antacid. Recall that sexy bro whipping off his shirt and paints on his chest? I loved that commercial!
She is a good bus -sin -ness woman. She made tons of money using sex to help sell her entertainment. So what is your point? Why should the WWE be any different? Sex is used to sell butter. Where are all the complaints about Fabio? We seem to have really selective standards here.
Does the JI print ads with women with big boobs that are practically naked? Of course they do! What hypocrites!
Oh and I have to point out to Mr. Green that it is beyond ironic that currently advertised on your page here is a drug that supposedly boosts testosterone. The picture in the ad is a sexy young beefy man stripped bare-chested and a girl in a state of disrobing is hanging on to him.
They are coyly looking at me like they want me for a three-way. OMG! WHAT ABOUT THAT??!!
You don’t see Democrats complaining because porn queen Stacy Kiebler hosted an Obama fund-raiser with significant other George Clooney.
We’d hear the disavowals in seconds: sure Kiebler is a flesh peddler landing in Maxim several years in a row but her role as a WWF/WWE manager/table dancer surely wasn’t porn. And Dancing With the Stars is so wholesome.
It’s good to see this story is played out and the press is actually creating sympathy for Linda (the vacancy signs hanging off Chris Murphy’s ears helps here too. Vacuous was so hot in 2006!)
