Loon Meadow Farm Sleigh Ride“Dashing through the snow” and “sleigh bells ring” aren’t just  lyrics, they’re actual experiences in Connecticut in the winter.
Farms around the state are offering old-fashioned, horse-drawn  sleigh rides through the woods. If you go, be sure to dress for the  open-air ride — warm coats, hats, scarves and gloves — and don’t  forget the camera. You could end up with the perfect shot for next  year’s holiday card.
At Allegra Farm in East Haddam, visitors snuggle up under wool or  fur lap robes for an hourlong ride in an antique sleigh. Owner John  Allegra says riding through quiet, snow-covered woods is like being  in a Currier and Ives landscape.
“It’s romantic, no doubt about it,” Allegra says. “We’ve had plenty  of sleigh ride proposals.”
An hour sleigh ride for five to six people is $150 if you pay in  cash, or $175 if you pay by credit card or check. Sleigh rides are  available seven days a week, whenever there is snow, with  registration. Allegra Farm is also home to the Horse Drawn Carriage  and Sleigh Museum of New England.
