Sears Portrait Studios, where so many Americans have gone for family pictures, has closed. Jim Abel, president and ceo of  CPI Corp, which operated the studios, released the following statement on Thursday.

“After many years of providing family portrait photography, we are sad to announce our Sears Portrait Studios are now closed.  We appreciate your patronage and allowing us to capture your precious memories.  If you currently have an album or have had a recent portrait session, you can order products at searsphotos.com thru April 18, 2013.”

The company has been operating for more than 60 years and in 2012, had 2,700 studios in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico. Close to 80 percent of the studios were in Sears and Walmart stores.

You leave instructions for ordering but what about those who have ordered & paid you in good faith? You have no such assistance to them.

I placed an order from Sears portraits, paid for them and have not been able to pick the pictures up yet. You call the number they provide at the studio and no one calls back. I emailed customer care and never heard back. Then last week I placed an order online scared that I would lose my pictures, my credit card was charged and there is no sign of my pictures coming. These pictures are of my baby when he was a newborn, something I will never get back. I am disgusted and frustrated.
