Statewide Tag Sales This Weekend

One of the oldest and biggest tag sales each spring is sponsored by the Child & Family Agency of Southeastern Connecticut. The organization holds its 60th annual tag sale at the New London Armory, 249 Bayonet St. in New London on Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Coventry will hold a town wide tag sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 3. Check with the department of Parks and Recreation for a list of locations. Information:

Marlborough Congregational Church, 35 S. Main St., will hold its annual tag sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 3. From 9 to 11:45 a.m., items will be priced as marked. From noon to closing, shoppers can fill a brown grocery bag with items from the Great Hall for $4 or a large plastic trash bag of clothing and linens from the Youth Room for $7. Information:

Notre Dame Church, 272 Main St., Durham, will hold monthly tag sales and flea markets in the church hall, church garage, parking lot and on the lawn on the first Saturday of every month, May through October. Hours are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., rain or shine.

Friends of the Bloomfield Library will hold its annual book sale on Friday and Saturday, May 2 and 3 at the Prosser Library, 1 Tunxis Ave. Thousands of books, DVDs, CDs and audio books will be available. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday; and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Information: 860-243-9721.

The Cora J. Belden Library, 33 Church St., Rocky Hill, will hold a used-book sale from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, May 3, and from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 4. On Sunday, books are $5 a bag. Information: 860-258-7621.

Chester’s merchants will celebrate spring with their annual May Daze Night and Shop Stroll. The event will include exhibits, previews and sales at shops and galleries in Chester Center from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 2.

Lipper International, a wholesale company at 235 Washington St., Wallingford, will hold a spring sale from Monday, May 5 through Saturday, May 10. Merchandise includes children’s furniture, cookware, desk accessories, TV trays and teak and bamboo products. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Benidorm Bikes, 247 Albany Turnpike, Canton, will hold a spring consignment sale from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Along with consigned bikes, the event will feature discounts on clothes and gear. Information: 860-693-8891 or

Throughout May, shop like a designer at Design Source’s home furnishing sample sale. Savings are 50 to 80 percent on furniture, area rugs and accessories and all sales are final.
