Here’s a family dine-out deal that won’t take a bite out of your budget. On Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., everything is half-off at BurgerFi in Avon, 380 W. Main St. Menu items include burgers, fries, onion rings, hot dogs, frozen custard, soft drinks and beer and wine. Information: 860-217-1403.
Connecticut burger wars are about to have another player.
Florida-based chain BurgerFi, (as in “burgerfication”) will open three locations in the state. The first, in the Avon Marketplace in Simsbury, is scheduled to open in February of 2013; locations in Glastonbury and Manchester are slated to open in July of 2013.
The chain, which launched in 2011, currently has 9 restaurants, and is expanding rapidly with an additional dozen locations currently under construction, says Steve Lieber, brand ambassador and director of franchise sales.
BurgerFi’s menu features all-natural, grass-fed beef burgers, fries and onion rings, Kobe beef hot dogs, frozen custard and cupcakes and wine and local craft beers. Prices start at $3.97 for a single patty burger. BurgerFi’s double patty Classic sells for $5.95.
“Our concept was to hit that spot between the fast food burger chains and the chef driven places like Bobby Flay’s burger restaurants,” says Lieber.
They’ll have plenty of competition. Currently, Five Guys Burgers and Fries is down the road on Route 44 in Avon and Mooyah, The Counter Burger, Max Burger, Plan B and Jake’s Wayback Burgers are in West Hartford. (BGR: The Burger Joint, in West Hartford Center, closed in August.)
