Needlepoint and cross-stitch canvases, embroidery CDs, gifts and wood accessories designed for displaying stitchery projects, are available at deeply discounted prices. All purchases are final sale. Niantic Main Street hosts the annual Bargains by the Bay tent and sidewalk sale Friday, Saturday and Sunday. During the event, downtown merchants in the seaside town offer deals on antiques, apparel, books and more.

Through Aug. 31, K-12 teachers, administrators, and Board of Education members can visit the Connecticut Science Center in Hartford free of charge. Educator ID required.

The Friends of the Saxton B. Little Free Library in Columbia hold a used book sale on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Books are priced from 25 cents to $3 and on Sunday, books are half-price.
