The Florence Griswold Museum, Lyme St., Old Lyme, holds a free community day from 10 a.m to 5 p.m. on Saturday. Visitors are invited to tour exhibits, stroll along the river and grounds and enjoy entertainment, art activities and refreshments at no charge. One of New England’s oldest and largest rummage sales, (the first was held in 1920), takes place today, (July 13), and Saturday, July 14, in Old Lyme. The White Elephant Sale at the First Congregational Church, 2 Ferry Road, features thousands of items, including clothing, sports gear, antiques, art, toys, furniture and other treasures. (Be warned; this event draws a crowd.) Hours are Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon. (Most stock is half price on Saturday.)
