Dunkin Brands is celebrating England’s new arrival with a princely pastry and a royal baby bump cake.
Royal Munchkins, old-fashioned donut holes dipped in pink, blue and white sprinkles, will be available for a limited time this week at participating Dunkin’ Donuts.
For those awaiting the arrival of their own little prince or princess, Dunkin Donut sister brand, Baskin-Robbin,s has introduced a Baby Shower Cake. Decorated with baby booties, the 9-inch round cake can be customized with choice of ice cream and cake flavors, is available year-round at participating Baskin-Robbins locations and sells for $31.99.
“Our Royal Munchkin and Baby Shower Cake offer guests a fun and easy way to celebrate the joy and excitement of a new baby,” said Dunkin’ Brands’ CEO and Chairman Nigel Travis. ”We offer our heartfelt congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the newest addition to the Royal Family.”
This isn’t the first time that Dunkin Brands has gone royal. In 2011, the company commemorated William and Kate’s Royal Wedding with a Dunkin’ Donuts Royal Wedding Donut and Baskin-Robbins’ Royal Wedding Ice Cream Cake.
The new little prince is just a day old and Royal Baby products are getting snapped up as fast as cookies at tea time. The Center for Retail Research in Nottingham, England, estimates that British consumers will spend around £243 million, (about $373 million in US dollars) on Royal Baby-related products – and American shoppers will spend a king’s randsom as well.
