Best Buy and Sprint have teamed up to offer the My Way Student mobile plan, which gives students a year of free calls, texts and data. To get the deal, students must purchase a qualifying Sprint smartphone at Best Buy and activate a new line with Sprint’s Unlimited, My Way plan. (There’s a $36 activation fee.) The offer begins Monday, Nov. 25 and ends Jan. 4. Qualifying phones, prices and student verification form are online at www.BestBuy.com.
After last week’s devastating typhoon in the Philippines, communication has been restored to some affected areas and phone carriers are waiving fees for calls and texts. Though Nov. 30, AT&T wireless customers won’t be charged for calls to the Philippines and through Nov. 22, AT&T land-line customers will get up to 60 minutes of free calls.
- Cox is offering its long distance phone customers 60 minutes of free calling through Nov. 30.
- Comcast Xfinity Voice residential customers get free calls to the Philippines through Nov. 30. Through Dec. 7, Sprint customers can send texts or make calls to the Philippines at no cost.
- Verizon is offering free text messages, wireless and land-line phone calls to the Philippines though Dec. 7.
- T-Mobile customers get free calls and text messages through Nov. 30.
