Downward Dog exposing more than your flexibility?

You might want to trade in your Lululemon pants.

The yoga and running apparel retailer posted a letter on its website Monday admitting that there is a “level of sheerness in some of our women’s black Luon bottoms that falls short of our very high standards.”

“We have determined that certain shipments of product received from our  factories and available in store from March 1, 2013 do not meet our  technical specifications. The items affected are certain styles of women’s bottoms in our signature black Luon fabric,” the company said.

Lululemon has pulled all of the offending pants and crops from its stores and website (about 17 percent of all the women’s yoga pants it carries) and projects a shortage of the styles in the “near term.” Pants sell for around $100.

“We regret any inconvenience this has caused for our guests. It is always our first priority to protect the quality of our fabrics that keep our guest so loyal to our products. We will accept nothing less than the very highest quality we are known for,” said company ceo      Christine Day.

The recall will affect the company’s bottom line as well as customers’ bottoms.

Lululemon says the problem will reduce its first-quarter sales from an expected $350 million to $355 million down to $333 million to $343 million – and shares of Lululemon stock have dropped since the announcement.

Anyone who purchased black Luon pants online or in stores after March 1st can return the product for a full refund or exchange. Information: 1-877-263-9300.
