Seaside Park in Bridgeport starts filling up quickly when the Gathering of the Vibes festival begins. (Tanner Curtis / Hartford Courant)

When the summer starts heating up in the Park City, you know it’s time for the Vibes. There’s just something in the air.

The huge 4 day festival may have a reputation for attracting so many hippies that it makes Bonnaroo look like a tax adjuster convention, but it’s not just about psychedelic tie-dye. Past years have seen Elvis Costello, Buddy Guy, and Nas. This year sees Primus as a headliner for Saturday night.

In other words, it’s an all around good time.

Connecticut’s heat wave is expected to break by Thursday, with some comfortable temperatures at Seaside park perfect for hula hooping or a game of hacky-sack.

You can catch quite a bit going on at the Vibes. The fest is an all-around experience, not just a bunch of Dead Heads. (Tanner Curtis / Hartford Courant)
