‘Grand Band Slam’ Turns Into Statewide Music Fest
The annual Grand Band Slam is a chance for Connecticut artists of every genre to prove their mettle against other local bands.
This year The Advocate weeklies from Hartford, New Haven, and Fairfield county (which are all owned by the same parent company as the Courant) are combining efforts to class up the event.
It begins with a Grammy-style awards show at the Bushnell in Hartford on September 12. The potential will likely be high for some “I’ma let you finish”or “Wu Tang is for the children” moments, though it remains too early to tell.
A weekend long festival of performances by the top bands is planned a week and a half later, September 20-22, across venues in Hartford, New Haven, and Bridgeport. So far Two Boots, Black Eyed Sallys, the Wadsworth Atheneum, Cafe Nine, and more will be hosting shows.
There’s a total of at least 44 bands spread out across 13 venues. The best part? All the shows are free.

Before buying a magnet, one should determine the grade and make sure that it is suitable. Every magnet should have a grade stamped onto it; this grade consists of both letters and numbers, i.e. 33H or N35. The higher the number is, the more brittle the magnet will be. The letter denotes the class of operating temperature.
magnets…. how do they work?
