The Hartford Public Library is launching a new live music series with local and regional indie pop bands.
Starting on Sunday, then continuing the second Sunday of each month through April, indie pop bands will be performing for free at the library’s main branch, 500 Main Street.
The indie pop series is being rolled in to the library’s already established Baby Grand Jazz series, with acts performing back to back.
The Heather Maloney Band kicks off the indie pop series this Sunday at 1:30 p.m., followed by Jazz drummer Jimmy Macbride at 3.
January 13 has Henning Ohlenbush performing, The Sawtelles play Feb 10, Lys Guillorn on March 10, and Lesa Bezo on April 14.
A full schedule of the jazz performances can be found on the Hartford Jazz Society’s Calendar.
“We are excited about exploring the world of indie pop this winter along with the return of Baby Grand Jazz,” said Matt Poland, the Library’s chief executive officer, in press release announcing the series. “When it’s cold outside, the beat will keep you warm at the Library, whether toe tapping to jazz or head bopping to indie pop – or both.”
