Just a day after Steven Tyler announced he was leaving ‘American Idol,’ fellow judge Jennifer Lopez has confirmed she too is calling it quits.

Lopez broke the news on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show, “On the Air.” She said she was going to return to some projects that were put on hold during her ‘Idol’ stint.

“I really have been torn,” Lopez said. “When I signed on to ‘Idol,’ I signed on to do one year. I ended up doing two years … It was just such a lovely surprise in my life to do it.”

Lopez performs in Connecticut at the Mohegan Sun Arena on July 26.

In Tyler’s statement Thursday, he said he was going back to pouring his energy into Aerosmith, before Idol “boiled his rabbit.”

These developments raise questions on whether Randy Jackson, who has been with the show since it started 11 seasons ago, will stay.

Connecticut has had two serious contestants on ‘Idol’ in recent seasons, most recently Gabi Carruba of North Haven in this last season. Katie Stevens of Southbury finished eighth in season 9′s competition, and toured with fellow ‘Idol’ contestants.

E! network reports a few candidates, like Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, will.i.am, and Nicki Minaj as potential replacements for the two judges.

Who would you like to see take the two judging positions?
