When first asked to pick up this blog, I was a bit nervous.

Music is important to people, at least I know it is to me. Talking about it can evoke a shared rage or a shared love. It’s in the background of our car rides, the forefront of our parties, and blended in the emotional fabric of our lives.

For me, classic rock takes me on childhood road trips. Alternative, pop punk, and ska fill memories of middle school. Noise rock brings back the high school warehouse shows in Providence that I lied to my parents about. Goth pop, post hardcore, and shoegaze got me through college.

For ten years Eric Danton has been immersed in Connecticut’s music, covering it with skill and grace. With so many local acts, local scenes, and local sounds, it is quite the beat to pick up. I will try my best to keep up the same quality you have come to expect for the past decade.

Most of all, I want to have a good conversation about our shared love for music.

Let me know what you want to hear. I want to hear it too.

One Response to Keep Listening

  1. [...] This week welcomed a new music reviewer at The Hartford Courant.  Nick Caito joined as author of “Sound Check”.  Not only is he a writer but he’s a photographer as well.  He’s got a solid depth of music knowledge and he’s a real nice guy to boot!  He is also solidly behind promotion of the Connecticut music scene as well as national acts.  It was great to meet him while covering the RCE show Tuesday night (his “official” first).  I totally expect that CT will receive excellent music coverage from Nick.  Make sure you check out “Sound Check” and welcome Nick to CT music reporting.  Here is his introductory write.  http://courantblogs.com/sound-check/keep-listening/ [...]
