A face you can trust. (Advocate Newspapers)

If you’re like many other music fans, the woefully drab MTV Video Music Awards probably didn’t fill your need for musical honors.

The first annual Connecticut Music Awards is set to fill that void Wednesday night, as winners of the Advocate papers’ Grand Band Slam gather at the Bushnell Theatre in Hartford to receive their awards.

There will be musical performances from Little Ugly, Ceschi Ramos, and Hannah Fair, plus the promise of video montages. Awards from the Advocate papers (which are sister publications of the Courant) will be presented by ‘Minister of Propaganda’ Chip McCabe, Scene Queen Lisa Sanchez Gonzalez, and other special guests.

This is the first of the two part Band Slam celebration. The second half comes next weekend, when venues across the state put on free shows for all the awards finalists.

Tickets to tomorrow night’s awards performance are $7. Come dressed to impress, or dressed to rock.
