It’s been a little more than a year since James Murphy said “nah” to the idea of keeping up the hits with LCD Soundsystem, and now the documentary of their fateful last show at Madison Square Garden will hit the big screen in Connecticut.

Originally slated to only be shown in a dozen or so major markets on July 18, Shut Up And Play The Hits completely sold out. Film distributor Oscilloscope Laboratories, founded by the late Beastie Boy Adam Yauch, announced a huge number of expanded showings, including 5 theatres in Connecticut plus some additional showings July 19.

LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy rallied against the fleecing of concertgoers by ticket resale sites like StubHub after seats for the sold-out concert were seen being sold for hundreds of dollars.

Shut Up And Play The Hits chronicles the final few days of the band leading up to the April 2, 2011 concert at Madison Square Garden, the huge performance, plus what happens after everything ended.

The movie should be well worth a ticket on a school night, and will be showing at the following theatres on Wednesday, July 18:

City Cinema @ Palace, Hartford
Rave Buckland Hills, Manchester
Criterion, New Haven
Rave Connecticut Post 14, Milford
Majestic 6, Stamford

Contact theatres for additional ticket information.

Oscilloscope reported that more show times were being added, and to check their full list of theatres for updates.
