Primus and the Chocolate Factory arrives in Waterbury on Oct. 28.

The original lineup of Primus — bassist/vocalist Les Claypool, guitarist Larry LaLonde and drummer Tim “Herb” Alexander, who had open heart surgery only a week ago — are booked for a gig at Waterbury’s Palace Theater on Tuesday, Oct. 28, according to manicproductions.org.

Here’s the twist: on Oct. 21, the trio releases its take on the classic “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” soundtrack, reportedly titled “Primus & The Chocolate Factory With The Fungi Ensemble.” The Waterbury show, which takes place only a few days before Primus hits NYC’s Beacon Theatre for Halloween, is billed as “Primus and the Chocolate Factory.” How strange and wonderful.

Tickets ($39.50-$59.50) go on sale this Friday, Aug. 1 at 10 a.m. through manicproductions.org. It’s unclear whether or not Alexander, who rejoined Primus in 2013 after a four-year absence, will be performing, but we’ll keep you posted. Meanwhile, check out this little taste of the show.
