Somewhere between the glorious Psy / MC Hammer collaboration and Canadians winning top awards, watching last night’s American Music Awards brought to light what time of year it is. It’s the final countdown to holiday shopping season.
George Takei’s overplayed Old Navy commercial aside, there actually are some real solid deals coming up on Friday at local record stores.
Record Store day hits most local retailers in conjunction with Black Friday, making some very special releases available to stores. Topping the list is a gold foiled, individually stamped edition of Nirvana’s Incesticide. This double 45, 20th anniversary release is extremely limited.
The list goes on to include a Leonard Cohen and Jeff Buckley split 7″ of ‘Hallelujah’, a Boris and Asobi Seksu split, and other releases from David Bowie to M83 to Miles Davis. Each store will have a different stock based on their requests and availability, but click here for a full list of the special releases.
Redscroll Records, The Telegraph, Brass City Records, Willimantic Records, and Mystic Disc are all participating in the promotional day.
In addition to the national promo, Redscroll is having their 6th annual Blackout at Sunrise Sale. It runs from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, plus 10am-9pm Saturday and Sunday. The sale has 25% off everything used, 15% off everything new, plus hot cider, snacks, DJ’s, and more. Click here for more information.
The Telegraph is having their own big sale, with discounts on new vinyl, $2 off CDs, and live music. Click here for more info.
