University of Connecticut’s a cappella group Rubyfruit placed second in a contest to perform with Lady Antebellum.
Rubyfruit were announced as finalists a few weeks ago. A cappella groups from around the country recorded videos performing Lady Antebellum songs, and uploaded them to youtube to enter. Five finalists were chosen, then the public was asked to vote for the best entry.
The group’s Lauren DeMio said the announcement was made Friday that Breath of Soul, who were in third place in terms of votes, were chosen as winners. DeMio said that Rubyfruit was in second place for votes, about 400 behind first and 11,000 ahead of Breath of Soul, who will now perform with Lady Antebellum in Nashville on December 3.
By coming in second place, Rubyfruit members win a bunch of Lady Antebellum merchandise. So UConn students- if you see someone with a Lady A bookbag or sweatpants at the dining hall, they can probably sing.
