So Long To Das Racist

Brooklyn’s Das Racist is officially no more.
Himanshu Suri, aka Heems, announced the split on stage at the ON-3 festival in Munich before performing in a slot originally set aside for Das Racist.
“Do you wanna know a secret? Aight so I’m gonna do some Das Racist songs but Das Racist is breaking up and we’re not a band anymore.”

Heems first met his partner in crime Victor Vazquez (AKA Kool A.D.) at Wesleyan University when Vazquez served as his student adviser for a semester. The two moved to Brooklyn and started writing hip hop together in 2006.

Das Racist started generating mainstream buzz around their 2008 song ‘Combination Pizza Hut Taco Bell.’ The schticky track gave a quick and somewhat simplified look into their world of references to cultural minutia, internet jokes, and irony.
The split became more official when Vazquez tweeted his departure.
for the record i quit das racist 2 months ago and was asked by our manager not to announce it yet. apparently @himanshu wanted to do it tho.

The group’s hypeman Dapwell talked to SPIN Magazine about the break up on Sunday, telling the magazine there was a plan to break up in May. Those plans are, of course, out the window.
Seemingly to prove just how unexciting the breakup was to Kool and Heems, the two turned their twitter feeds to more important topics rather quickly. That is, jokes.
