Connecticut’s rock family lost an important member this week. Steve Kaika of New London’s The Reducers died Tuesday of cancer.

A benefit show planned for Friday, June 15 at Hygienic Park in New London will go ahead as planned, with performances by The Rivergods, Dogbite, and more. A $10 donation is suggested to help Kaika’s wife pay a mountain of medical bills. For more information and to donate, go to TheReducers.com.

Boy band One Direction must have liked their response at May’s concert at Mohegan Sun so much that they’re making a return Friday, Nov. 30. Tickets go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster. Prices range $39.50 to $69.50.

Touring off their recently released eighth album, “Curve,” Our Lady Peace comes to Toad’s Place Thursday, Aug. 2. Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. for $25. The Dirty Heads bring more of a beachy reggae vibe to Toads on Tuesday, July 17. Those tickets are also on sale Friday.

Steve Vai will burn up the fretboard at the Calvin Theatre Friday, Sept. 14. The virtuoso has an album of new material dropping Aug. 14. On a smaller instrument, ukulelist Jake Shimabukuro performs at the Theatre Saturday, Dec. 1. Vetiver plays the Iron Horse Sept. 19.

A Place To Bury Strangers bring their fuzz-soaked shoegaze rock to Connecticut for the first time July 30, playing with Hunters at The Space in Hamden.

Outlaws come to Infinity Music Hall Thursday, Aug. 2. Jorma Kaukonen of Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna spends an evening there Thursday, Oct. 11, and seven-time Grammy nominee Paula Cole performs Sept. 30.

Girl In A Coma plays Café Nine in New Haven July 17, and Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band bring a midwestern blues show to Hartford’s Russian Lady Thursday, June 28.

Jukebox The Ghost plays with Savoir Adore and Bright Moments Friday night at Heirloom Arts Theatre.

Sunday brings Korn to the Oakdale. On a very, very different note, Bowerbirds play the Iron Horse and Willie Nelson plays the Shubert Theatre Monday.
