Two music superstars announced stops in Connecticut this week.

The first is Rihanna, the Stamford resident who just won top prize at MTV’s Video Music Awards. She’ll be performing at the XL Center in Hartford on Friday, March 15. Ticket prices range from $39.50 to $125, and go on sale next Friday, Sept. 21, at 10 a.m. through Live Nation.

Green Day brings their “Uno! Dos! Tre!” tour through Connecticut on Saturday, Jan. 19. The concert at Mohegan Sun Arena goes on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster for $42 and $62.

Metal stalwarts Megadeth swing their symphony of destruction through Wallingford this fall. Tickets to the Nov. 13 concert at the Toyota Oakdale Theatre go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. for $35 and $40 through Ticketmaster.

Things have been picking up steam at the Great Hall at Union Station in downtown Hartford. Buckcherry, Lit, and Saving Abel perform there on Friday, Oct. 12. Tickets go on sale this Friday through Ticketfly.com for $27 and $30.

Northampton residents Dinosaur Jr. are playing their hometown Wednesday, Nov. 28 at the Pearl Street Ballroom. Screaming Females open the bill. Tickets are on sale this Friday for $25 through iheg.com.

San Francisco hip hop artist Aesop Rock makes two stops in the area this November, playing Pearl Street in Northampton on Nov. 2 and at Toad’s Place on Nov. 6. Tickets to both shows go on sale this Friday at noon, through iheg.com and toadsplace.com respectively.

Max Creek is playing Toad’s Place on Friday, Nov. 2. Tickets are on sale now for $12 through toadsplace.com.

Reggae artist Sean Paul is coming to the Webster Theatre on Sunday, Oct. 7. Tickets are on sale now for $25 at webstertheatre.com, or for $30 at the door.

Blues and Americana artist Leon Russell, freshly inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, is making two area stops. He will be at Infinity Hall in Norfolk on Nov. 12. Tickets are on sale Sept. 13 for $50 and $70 through infinityhall.com.

Russell makes an appearance four days prior at the Klein Auditorium in Fairfield, joined by Little Feat. Tickets are on sale this Sunday at noon through fairfieldtheatre.org for $33 to $77.

There have been peeks into new Ben Folds Five material this week in advance of their release of “The Sound Of The Life Of The Mind” on Sept. 18. Fans can get more than just a peek Thursday, Sept. 13 at Mountain Park in Holyoke when the reunited band performs.

Darius Rucker plays at Mountain Park on Friday, closing the outdoor venue’s season. It’s starting to get cold, folks.

Firewater, a gypsy politi-punk act, plays the Iron Horse on Thursday, and Steve Vai is at the Calvin Theatre on Friday.

Carrie Underwood performs at the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport on Saturday. She’ll be coming to Hartford in November. Meanwhile Slash, along with Myles Kennedy And The Conspirators, will be at the Toyota Oakdale Theatre on Saturday.
