Upcoming Concerts: Downtown Rocks For Newtown, Reba, Leonard Cohen

Music venues in downtown Hartford are teaming up with a lot of bands to raise money for those affected by the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

‘Downtown Rocks For Newtown’ is an all day music festival on Jan. 27 featuring many acts with ties to the area, among them Bronze Radio Return, Max Creek, The McLovins, Echo & Drake, 1974, Joey Batts and Them, and Forward Motion. More than 50 bands will play in all, spread out across 9 venues including Union Station, Up Or On The Rocks, and Black Eyed Sallys. Tickets are on sale now for $30 through ticketfly.com

Ridgefield Playhouse has concerts the weekend before, with proceeds going toward first responders and a memorial park. Jan. 19 has Edie Brickell, Bernie Williams, Kicking Dasises, and more. Jan. 20 will feature Johnny Winter, Ed Kowalczyk from Live, Chris Berardo and the Desperados, and others. Tickets range from $45 to $250 or $400 for both days, and are on sale now at ridgefieldplayhouse.org or calling the box office at 203-438-5795.


Reba McIntire Country star turned TV star turned Broadway star Reba Mcentire is back in the mix and on tour. She makes a stop at Mohegan Sun on April 27. Tickets are $45 and $65, and go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster.

The Toyota Oakdale Theatre has Leonard Cohen performing on April 2. Tickets go from $49.50 to @258.50, and are on sale Friday, Jan. 18 at 10 a.m. through ticketmaster.com. Get The Led out will be at The Dome on Feb. 16. Those tickets are $25, and on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through ticketmaster.

Scandinavian punk rockers Iceage are playing Lilly’s Pad at Toad’s Place along with White Lung on April 18 for $10. Dream folksters Day Joy are at The Outer Space on March 3 for $8. Both are on sale Friday at noon through manicproductions.org.

The Calvin Theatre is hosting ‘An Acoustic Evening’ with Mary Chapin Carpenter and Shawn Colvin on May 10. Tickets are $48.50 and $38.50 and on sale Friday at iheg.com.

The Sun Parade are at the Iron Horse on April 20, tickets are $10. The Wood Brothers are at the venue on Feb. 27 for $22.50. Both are on sale now through iheg.com.

Infinity Hall has Will Evans on March 1, with tickets at $34 and $49. The Stick Men play there March 27 for $30 and $40. Tickets to both are on sale Thursday, Jan. 10 through infinityhall.com.

ICP proteges TWIZTID are at the Webster Theatre March 19, if you’re into that kind of thing. Hed PE open. Tickets are $20 and on sale now at webstertheatre.com.

Isaac Young Quartet and Hot Chaos are at Arch Street Tavern on Jan. 31, and Forward Motion play there along with Ladyhips on Feb. 1. Both shows are $7 in advance or $10 at the door, with tickets on sale through Ticketfly.

Coming up this week:

Suzie Brown, Jenee Halstead, and Daphne Lee Martin play at The Outer Space on Thursday, Jan. 10. The bar is holding a fundraising concert on Saturday, Jan. 12, toward their new Spaceland Ballroom venue endeavor.

Roger Hodgson of Supertramp is at the Ridgefield Playhouse Saturday night. On the other side of the spectrum, Skillet are at the Mohegan Sun arena Saturday.

Johnny Winter is at Toad’s Place on Friday night, and Smoke Signals play with Thomas Wynn & the Believers at BAR’s free show next Wednesday.
