It’s been 50 years since the deans of rock and roll, The Rolling Stones, first started playing. Many though they’d either die from the drugs or from each other. But here come four concerts for their fifty year reunion.
Their only two North American dates thus far are at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Not entirely local, but within reason. The concerts are Dec 13 and 15, going on sale this Friday, Oct 26, at noon through Ticketmaster. Tickets go for either $95 or a whopping $750 (yes, $750). The other two dates, in London, sold out in 7 minutes, crashing Ticketmaster’s site in the process.
This would be the perfect time to transition from the Stones to Maroon 5 with a comment about Mick Jagger’s moves. Anyway, Adam Levine and company are playing the Mohegan Sun Arena on Feb 22. Tickets go on sale Saturday, Oct 27 at 10 a.m. for $65 and $85. You can use a payphone to call Ticketmaster at 1-800-745-3000, or (more likely) go ticketmaster.com.
The Toyota Oakdale Theatre celebrates the holidays with WCCC’s Christmas Chaos concert, with Three Days Grace, All That Remains, and Hinder. Tickets for the Dec 15 concert are on sale Friday at 10 a.m. for $29.50 or $39.50 through Live Nation.
Guster are still alive and kicking, and will play a special acoustic show at the Calvin Theatre in Northampton Jan 17. Tickets are on sale Friday, Oct 26 for $29.50 through iheg.com.
Mates of State have been added to the Ra Ra Riot concert at Hartford’s Arch Street Tavern on Dec 9. Tickets are still $16, through manicproductions.org. Ra Ra Riot have also added a date at the Pearl Street Ballroom in Northampton on March 9. Those tickets go on sale next Friday, Nov 2, for $15 at iheg.com.
Connecticut’s own The Guru are having an album release show at The Space on Nov 21. Tigers Jaw, Brian Stankus, and Disco Teen ’66 open up. Tickets are $12 in advance at manicproductions.org.
Simone Felice, formerly of The Felice Brothers, is coming to New Haven’s Cafe Nine on Dec 2. Tickets are on sale Friday at noon for $15 through manicproductions.org.
On sale at Infinity Hall on Oct 25 are Jim Brickman and Kenny Vance and the Planotones. Brickman comes to Norfolk on April 28 for $65 and $85, and the Planotones come to town March 16 for $50 and $70.
Coming up this week:
Bluesman Popa Chubby is playing Infinity Hall Thursday night with Delta Moon. Meanwhile The Drowning Men will be at the Outer Space that night, along with Goodnight Blue Moon and The Raven and The Wool.
Toad’s in New Haven is hosting ‘Skalapalooza,’ with Spring Heeled Jack, The Pietasters, The Pilfers, and more.
Meat Loaf is at Mohegan Sun Saturday night, and State Radio is at the Calvin Theatre.
Lee DeWyze of American Idol is at the Iron Horse on the 28th. If that’s not your bag, Napalm Death and Municipal Waste tear up the El N Gee in New London the same night.
