It’s funny how seemingly random video footage takes on new meanings when you pair it with music.

Scroll down and watch VIOLENT MAE’s new video for “Worn Out My Welcome” — a wonderful, soft country waltz, with Becky Kessler’s big-hearted voice mixed way out front of her guitar and tasteful accompaniment by Floyd Kellogg, who can play pretty much whatever instrument he picks up.

The video was produced by the band members themselves. I could tell you what I see in this vintage footage — rose-tinted clips of a sixties-era parade of some kind — and you could do the same. (Maybe just do what I’m doing: sit back and let the sounds and images seep in.)

VIOLENT MAE will be back at Casa de Warrenton working on their second album this summer, which they tell me will be “heavy, fuzzed out, low” and “big.” (Can’t wait.) In addition to touring all over the place, Becky and Floyd open for Marissa Nadler at the Ballroom at the Outer Space in Hamden on July 20. Check them out if you can, and visit some of their links (below the video).
