There may be design changes coming to the Google Maps page that we’ve grown accustomed to over the years.
The new design may be linked to the upcoming Google I/O developers conference. Images on the unofficial Google Operating System blog show the rail on the left side replaced with an overlay of the information. Other changes mau be a tighter integration with Google+ to highlight your location and recommendations from friends.
