2X00139_9Facebook is adding searchable hashtags to it’s social media platform.

Hashtags are one of the most used features of other social media networks, like Instagram and Twitter and allow users to quickly find other people talking about topics.

Facebook product manager Craig Lindley said in a press release that hashtags will be rolled out today. The company will allow searching for a specific hashtag in the search bar. You’ll also be allowed to compose posts based on the hashtag feed and search results. Users will be able to control the audience for posts with hashtags and click on tags that originate from other services like Twitter.

Lindley also said the company would be adding functionality in the future including trending topics and “deeper insights.”
