Five years ago today the first iPhone was released.  Since then, the annual iPhone release has become an event for many, including months of hype and hours of waiting in line on release day.

Connecticut residents on Facebook answered the question “How has the iPhone made your life easier?”  Responses ranged from grateful to indifferent to negative.  Here are a few:

Evan Sagdiyev from Cromwell:

I got to play angry birds at the DMV, which made it a lot more fun.

Brian Munchie from KISS 95.7:

I am able to be constantly connected to family, friends and listeners. I am constantly interacting with the listeners of KISS957 via email and social media as well as share high quality photos with them thanks to the great photo apps and camera.

Jason Sartori from West Haven:

Dont forget about the negatives too!… like how is your social life now? And how much more time you’re on your phone instead of spending time with family!

Becky Dubuc from Cheshire:

Phonebooks, paper maps and 411 are now obsolete.

Sandy Crisafi Carmena:

I love my iphone, I am able to talk to my children that live across the US, We able to share daily life through photos and texts. I use many Iphone apps, When traveling I use the GPS. It’s nice to have an alternate route when road work or an accident causes congestion or traffic. Also, finds close gas stations, restruants, and hotels. I love the ability to socialized across the world. Music and information at my fingertips, awesome education tool, I love my iphone.

Beth Say:

Love Siri! Being able to just say wake me up in 10 mins is awesome!

What about you?  Do you have an iPhone?  What’s your favorite thing about it?

My I-phone is my computer on the go and away from home. I never miss the on the minute news and happening. I make my I-phone do what I want it to do. I do not argue anymore about any subjects, because I can “Search” to find the correct answer, and prove that I am right. I do not think I can live without my I-phone.

Thanks for your comment, Madeline. Glad I’m not the only one who constantly uses their iPhone to win debates.

I don’t think looking up ‘facts’ on a iphone really counts and you should forfeit your position because you had to rely on an external source. You really will win a debate when you hold those facts in your head and use them in your argument fair and square. Using an Iphone is cheating.
