In Connecticut, it’s unlikely that someone has to hail a cab by waving their arms on a street corner. But one cab company wants to eliminate that possibility all together by introducing a smart phone app to hail a taxi.

Metro Taxi, which serves the greater New Haven and Greater Bridgeport areas has introduced an app for iPhone and Android that will place an order for a cab and let the customer know what cab number is coming for them.

The company said in a press release that the system utilizes GPS to determine the location of the customer and then they can confirm the pickup point.

The company has a variety of vehicles and services, including airport service and wheelchair livery.

Would you use an app to get a cab, or is it easier to use the phone?
