Hartford Boys & Girls Club Wins Prize Using Social Media
IPOs aren’t the only way to make money using social media. Two Hartford not-for-profit groups have succeeded as well.
Combining the efforts of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford and Billings Forge Community Works, the groups used social media to gather followers and votes to win a $25,000 Community Builder Grant from Stratton Faxon Law Firm earlier this month. The law firm donated 10% of it’s fees to nonprofit groups.
The groups got help from Hartford mayor Pedro Segarra, who urged his Facebook followers to vote for them. The funds will help serve over 4,000 youths in the Greater Hartford area.
