The American Automobile Association is offering drivers an option to find cheaper gas prices in their area via text alerts.

Drivers can text “GAS” and a zip code (ex. GAS to 222411 and they will receive weekly updates with the cheapest gas prices in their area. Message and data rates will apply.

“The average price for a gallon of regular gasoline in Connecticut remains near its peak for the summer so far, after surpassing California last week for the most expensive price nationally outside of Hawaii and Alaska,” said AAA Public Affairs Manager Aaron Kupec.

The highest recorded price for regular gas in Connecticut was $4.38 in June 2008. Gas prices in the state have risen $0.16 in the last month and $0.04 in the last week according to the AAA Fuel Gauge Report.
