It may be on the back of a Boeing 747, but you can see the space shuttle Endeavour land in Southern California before it completes the trip to its permanent home.

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration is sponsoring a contest where 40 of its social media fans will get an invite to a NASA Social Sept. 19-20 at the agency’s Dryden Flight Research Center at Edwards Air Force Base in California.

The shuttle will both arrive and depart on NASA’s 747 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft.  According to NASA,  participants will “talk with experts, tour shuttle support vehicles and other NASA aircraft, and interact with fellow NASA social media followers, space enthusiasts and members of NASA’s social media team.”

Registration opened at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 28, and closes at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 30. Forty people will be selected randomly from entries and those selected must be U.S. citizens, 18 years or older. Those selected to attend may not bring a guest due to limited space.
