Warren Buffett Joins Twitter

by Categorized: Social Media Date:

Warren Buffet sent out his first Tweet around 12:20 p.m. today and was adding 1,000 followers a minute in the first hour.

Here’s his first tweet:

The Berkshire Hathaway CEO is not known for his technology prowess, and has said he doesn’t have a computer in his office.

The investor joined Twitter during a conversation with Fortune Magazine’s editor-at-large Pattie Sellers on women in the workplace.

Buffett’s friend Bill Gates, the former Microsoft Chairman, has 11 million followers.

Fortune writes,

“But signing up for a Twitter account is no guarantee that Buffett will become a regular and sustained user of the micro-blogging service. Carl Icahn launched a blog to chronicle his thoughts on corporate governance, and even hired a reporter from Reuters to contribute, but the project lasted for less than a year. The site, called The Icahn Report, hasn’t been updated since 2009.”
