Patriots coach Bill Belichick held back on the matter during Super Bowl week, but Roger Goodell let fly Sunday on ESPN Radio’s “Mike and Mike in the Morning. The NFL commissioner said the quality of play in the Pro Bowl must improve or he would consider eliminating it.

“I really didn’t think that was the kind of football that we want to be demonstrating for our fans,” Goodell said on ESPN Radio. “And you heard it from the fans. The fans were actively booing in the stands. They didn’t like what they were seeing.

“We’re either going to have to improve the quality of what we’re doing in the Pro Bowl or consider other changes or even considering eliminating the game.”

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers said during the week that some of his NFC teammates “embarrassed themselves” with the effort they forwarded in the 59-41 loss to the AFC. On Wednesday, Belichick was about to tell the truth when he caught himself.

“What I’m going to say wouldn’t be probably what I should say,” Belichick said. “I’m going to let that one go. What it was and what it is now is a lot different.”

Yep, nowadays too many guys like the trip to Hawaii and don’t feel like hitting anything harder than the beach. Another truth is, there’s not much you can do with a football all-star game.
