Here’s how Don Brown (at UConn the previous two seasons) to Boston College went down according to Eagles head coach Steve Addazio…

“I’ve watched Donnie for a long time and I prepared to play against him last year. He has great energy. He’s got great passion. He’s got a unique ability,,, he’s really the head coach of that defense now. He can really rally guys and schematically he poses a lot of problems for you on offense. He’s a New England guy, coached at UMass, Plymouth, Northeastern. He’s coached at Yale so I said ‘OK…

“…we’ve got a New England guy. He’s got ACC experience. He’s got Big East experience. He’s got a dynamic personality. He’s got a great scheme. I just said to myself I’m an offensive guy coming in here and aI I’ve got to make a statement that I’m going to hire a real high-end defensive coordinator and a guy who fits and understands and has recruited New England and the Northeast. Donnie had all of that. It was a hard thing to do because you know how much I love Coach P [UConn head coach Paul Pasqualoni] and then having Donnie work for Coach P. Coach P is probably one of the greatest teachers out there and so…in my job here as head coach I’ve got to do everything I can for this program and so going after Donnie was completely in line with doing everything I can for Boston College. I wanted to get Donnie and we were able to get him.”
