Captains Named For 2012 Season
Cornerback Blidi Wreh-Wilson, linebacker Jory Johnson, offensive guard Adam Masters and receiver Nick Williams are captains for 2012 season

STORRS, Conn. (August 27, 2012) — University of Connecticut seniors Adam Masters (Bethesda, Md.), Jory Johnson (Mobile, Ala.), Nick Williams (East Windsor, N.J.) and Blidi Wreh-Wilson (Edinboro, Pa.) have been selected as team captains for the 2012 season.
“We have an outstanding group of 17 seniors on our football team that all have shown outstanding leadership during their time here,” said UConn head coach Paul Pasqualoni. “The four seniors that will serve as our team captains have been exceptional in all areas that are expected from a UConn football player.”
Wreh-Wilson, a cornerback, was also a captain last season and has started 22 games over the past three seasons, including all 13 as a sophomore in 2010. He missed much of last year with a knee injury and enters 2012 eighth in school history in interception return yardage with 171.
Masters, an offensive tackle, has started 23 games during his career and has shown versatility at both guard and tackle during his career. As a starter the past two season, he blocked for 1,000-yard rushers Lyle McCombs in 2011 and Jordan Todman in 2010.
Johnson, an outside linebacker, led UConn in tackles last year with 97 and started all 12 games. He has played in 33 career games with 14 starts and is a two-time member of the BIG EAST All-Academic team.
Williams has enjoyed an tremendous career for the Huskies as both a wide receiver and a return specialist. He is first in the UConn career record books for kickoff return average (28.3), second in kickoff return yardage (1,556) and tied for first in KO returns for a touchdown (2).
Connecticut opens the 2012 season on Thursday night at Rentschler Field against Massachusetts at 7:30 p.m. The game will be televised by SNY.
