Mailbag Feb.22: What’s Up With Ryan Griffin And An Invite To NFL Combine? What’s He Up To?
Q: What’s up with Ryan Griffin not getting an invite to the Combine? He’s got plenty of good film and has great size and hands for an NFL TE. Any word on how he is prepping for Pro Day and the draft? Dave, Pensacola, Fla.
A: Your guess is as good as mine. I’m stunned he wasn’t invited to the Combine. Stunned. He’s actually down your way working out. He was there with Sio Moore and Dwayne Gratz. It’s my understanding he’s going to be working hard there the next three weeks for UConn’s Pro Day next month. I’m sure he’ll be motivated. I do expect the young man to get drafted, though.

Just a thought but the strengh of our offense over the past couple of years is not a secret. The two previous years we were much more into the run, as we could.
Rayn did drop a few in his days but I do not think our QB situation ever did him any favors. As a senior I saw him blocking more than running patterns. Coach, decision.
His spirit and hard work will pay off, that and his size and speed cannot be ignored, along with blocking ability.
There were 125 D1 teams this past year and the combine only brings in 300 players. Four of them are from UConn but all on the D side of the ball.
Sio said it best in print today, Griffin, Wirth, Williams, Masters. “Im just glad I had a chance to play with them.” As Jesse said above Pro Day will speak volumes. I am sure someone will see the value in Griffs play ….
GRIFFIN will be a steal with his hands and speed.
Dave I was thinking the same thing.
He should be drafted though, he’ll be able to show his stuff at UCONN’s Pro Day.
I am also sure there are NFL coaches who know who he is.
Hope everything is good down there in P-Cola.
Jesse
