Q: Desmond – With this most recent commitment from Jordan Fuchs this class has 4 Tight Ends.  Isn’t this a bit of an overload? Would think at least one of those scholarships could be used at another position we need (WR, DB, O-Line…) Bryce, Boston

A: What’s up, Bryce (love that name..Bryce)? Head coach Paul Pasqualoni likes the tight end in his offense. He likes using two as a matter of fact; did it last year and they were very good at catching the ball and blocking but Ryan Griffin and John Delahunt were seniors and UConn has no one else on the roster at that position who caught the ball in the thick of it. So given where they are and where they want to go with the tight end I wouldn’t be surprised if they all stayed where they were.  Fuchs is athletic so he could probably play WR if need be I guess (imagine the impact a 6-6 receiver could have) Also, UConn just missed out on a JC tight end who couldn’t get in for academic reasons a few weeks ago…

The Patriots have used a three TE scheme. Love to see some creative wrinkles like that at the Rent.

Dez, Mcquillan has speed can be a mismatch for defenses. Can be utilized with aggressive offense Weist is planning, thoughts?

Des What about Sean Mcquillan? Any plans for him that you know about?

One of the recruiting websites has Schafenacker from Aquinas as a soft commit. This is a recent change in status. Have you heard anything?

While i agree we could use at least 1 more OL, keep in mind we have 3 WRs and 3 DBs already – and those are being added to a position where we have good depth and very young talent. While I would not be surpirsed to see one of the 4 move to another position, I love the athleticism they each have. Get playmakers, and then figure out how to use them!

Dare we hope that Weist will be using the TE’s for more than just blocking and, occasionally, third down targets? If so, be still my heart!! :) :)
