Mailbag Jan. 30: 2014 Non-Conference Schedule News?

by Categorized: Mailbag Tagged: , Date:

Q: When is UConn going to announce ANY out of conference opponent for 2014? There are not many quality teams left with open slots. I fear we going to be playing a very poor strength of schedule in 2014 – Dan, Fairfield County…

A: Dan let me get back to you in a couple days on this? I’ve put the calls in again. I certainly understand the concern – thanks

Few big name programs will come to the Rent. Just too small. Time to start looking again at 1 game match-ups at a neutral site. Like UC/PSU– UC/Florida @ Giants stadium. UC/ Ohio ST. — UC/Texas @ Foxboro.

are you suggesting that education in the southern schools may not be up to par w/ those in other conferences? that perhaps, they may be admitting academically borderline young men to play football?

peculiar institution(s), indeed. (and NCAA approved)

Admitting academically borderline young men. Are we still talking football or are we talking about the UConn men’s bball team?

in regards to 1-AA teams, they might want to becareful of who they pick for games, some of those teams may be in the Big east at the rate we are going in 2014

Speaking Non-Conference schedules but for 2013, now I know a lot of people yawned when ECU joined the Big East or even felt ECU was not worthy, but ECU has NC State, UNC, and Virginia Tech as Non-Conference foes next season, not a bad non-con schedule.

Yup…but that doesn’t help Connecticut in 2014. Don’t know how he is going to get this done.

I read the Virginia has canceled a home and home with Penn State that was suppose to begin in 2014. Warde should jump all over that.

if they have any options on schedule at this point, PSU will make its ooc schedule as winnable as possible for the next few years. getting scholarships cut will do that.
