Q: Dez – Thanks very much for getting us through the long offseason, as always, a job very well done. Can’t believe we’re 2 weeks away from camp. Question for you, stemming from the Casey Cochran-broken wrist news today. Do you think this means Casey will redshirt this year? Obviously, with surgery he’s likely not back, rehabbed, and up to speed come August 30th, even if it is his left wrist. It’s just my opinion, but I think a shirt for him is the best approach, assuming Whitmer picks up where he left off in the spring this fall. – Dave M. Farmington, CT

A: Hey Dave. You know, I don’t know this for sure and don’t know if a decision had been made on it but I got the feeling he was going to redshirt this year anyway, which really isn’t a bad idea considering you have Johnny McEntee having gone through a season . I think that could be helpful in a backup role but unless something crazy happens I think Chandler Whitmer, the JC transfer, is your hands down starter for the 2012 season and I base that on what I saw in practice and the spring game. I think he was clearly the best of the group. Really bounces on the balls of those feet, great footwork and pocket presence. Thats huge and hes coming in here with it. Good arm strength…yeah Aug. 3 practice starts but Big East Media Day – and end of my vacation – is July 31. Good hearing from you Dave and thanks….

HEY … did you just say you are ending your vacation & then going to eat LOBSTER (whilst on the job) at the BE Media Event (a noted good spread)? We all bleed for you DC.

What is the chances of Malik Golden coming back home if the NCAA gives PSU the death penalty.

Nothing McEntee sees this year will be as bad as last year, last year was his first look, I’ll take McEntee in the crunch this coming season off of that, oh remember also Mike Smith is back.

I hope he is either 3rd or 4th string. I can’t sit though another season like last year.

  4. Kevin says:

Please no J Mac next year, hope he is 3rd string. Can’t go through another season with him at QB, hopefully Dez is right on this JuCo kid.

My gut tells me not to count Mr. Cochran out just yet. I am sure he has got a lot of heart and determination and that is why he’s gotten where he is. If HCPP makes the decision for the good of the program, well so be it. But I would guess that the young man will give it a helluva go before that decision is made.

This sure helps PP make a qb decision which he could not do last year.

Yes redshirt Casey…I also say to orangeshirt The Jerk to match the magic pumpkin.

That and all UCONN shirts should come from NAVIN’S
    http://www.navins.net/

With the Big East not being a beast we must rise to the top in every category, this including dress attire.

We must become the Boise of the east, but God keep our field green…….

    • Navin R. Johnson says:

Hey Artie…TheJerk wears an orange moxie shirt to all games. It has holes in it and is very tight on his body. Not a nice scene.

      • TheJerk says:

I have a new orange “moxie” shirt now that fitws much better. Although it fits me better, it would be screaming for mercy on you. Also you are old school new england if you know what the hell “moxie” even is
