Mailbag July 9: Think UConn Goes To Pinstripe With Seven, Eight Wins?
Q: If UConn gets 7 or 8 wins this year (which I think is about where they will be) do you think the Huskies will be a lock for the Pinstripe Bowl? I think it is a lock with Rutgers being there last and Syracuse the year before and UConn within driving distance which will help with ticket sales – Jesse, Wolcott
A: Hard one to answer today Jesse but it could be an option, yes. There could be others and there certainly will be more options with eight wins.

Pinstripe Bowl in the Bronx–I’ll sign for that right now!
Frank is probably correct. What are you guys smokin. Athletic programs at UConn have unfortunately regressed. I don’t see a resurgence in these major sports any time soon. Not to pick on the coach, but under Edsall things progressed. Now, athletics just seem to be going through the motions. Basketball is resting on its laurels. Two Big East seasons in the middle of the pack. National Championship strictly because of Kemba. No one else. Need new blood to shake things up. Don’t see much coming out of new adminstration.
Do you know how many programs would love to be “regressing” as you say UCONN is, and winning a national championship? Not to mention two years before that they were in the final four and ranked in the top 5 most of the year. The football program was coming off its best year in program history and had the head coach bolt to a different school and lost the big east offensive player of the year to the nfl. UCONN is not Alabama, they rebuild not reload. I know your not a fair weather fan so I’m not going to put the label on you but you sound like a spoiled fan.
No offense to Jesse but let us hope they go to a bowl with a football field……
Bingo! Again a more realistic goal is 5 wins but let’s hope for better
