Mailbag June 6: More UConn At Maryland Trip Info
Q: DC- let’s get as many UConn fans to Maryland as possible. Help me spread the word see here: http://www.thebaseballbus.com/p/uconn-football.html - Drew, South Windsor
A: I’m with it Drew thanks for sending. I also included a trip Ryan Phalen has scheduled to go as well below. He hit me with his months ago. Thanks again.
[From Ryan Phalen...]
I wanted to update you on the Maryland bus trip and hotel info. As a reminder, the game is on Saturday, September 15, 2012. Right now, I have 24 people on the bus. The bus will leave Friday September 14th from Connecticut around noontime, and come back Sunday morning. Cost is $85/person for the bus ride. Payments will be due June 30th. Stops on prior buses have been Torrington (where I am), Avon, Manchester, and Waterbury, but I’m flexible in terms of these if we can get more people (for Michigan we stopped in North Haven after I got 10+ people).
Main Hotel (All Bus riders will stay here)
For the main hotel, if you procrastinated, the rate has gone up substantially due to an event at FedEx Field that weekend- all the area hotels are now projecting to sell out and my old block ($104/nt) has sold out. The rate at the UMUC Marriott (where those on the bus will stay- 500 yds from the Stadium) is now $154/night, still below the retail rate of at least $159. I’ve got a block of 25 king rooms for both nights (Friday and Saturday). If you’re booking online, the group code is “C2FC2FA” and we’ll be staying from 9/14 to 9/16 (two nights, Friday and Saturday). If want to do it by phone, call Marriott Reservations at 1 (800) 453-0309 or (301) 985-7300 to make reservations, and identify yourself as part of the “Connecticut Football Fans 2” group staying at The Marriott Inn & Conference Center, University of Maryland University College, located at 3501 University Boulevard E, Adelphi, MD 20783-7998.
Non-Bus Riders Hotel Info (Main Hotel)
If you’ll be traveling separately and just want a hotel, you’re more than welcome to stay at the UMUC with the group. As of right now, we’ve sold 52 rooms on Fri/Sat, which maxed out our old block, however, if you want to stay on Thursday and/or Sunday, there is availability under the existing “Connecticut Football Fans” group, at a rate of $104/night if you book those nights separately.
Non-Bus Riders Hotel Info (Secondary Hotel)
If you’re looking for a cheaper option, I’ve booked a block for $119/night at the Courtyard Greenbelt, 6301 Golden Triangle Drive, Greenbelt, MD 20770. It’s about a 15 min drive from the other hotel/campus, but for $35/nt less I figured people would want something like that. If you want to use this rate, you can click the link below:
When you click on the link, you will be directed to the property’s home page with the group code for a King already entered in the group code field. If you want to reserve a Double Queen, enter “PFFPFFB” in the group code field. Next, enter your ARRIVAL and DEPARTURE date to begin the reservation process- by default they have entered 9/13 to 9/17, so you’ll need to change these if you are only staying Fri/Sat. If you prefer to make reservations by phone, you can call reservations department at 1 888 236 2427 and ask for the Connecticut Football Fans Room Block at the Courtyard Greenbelt.
Hope everyone is back in football mode! Let me know if you have any questions. Looking forward to seeing everyone out there for the Edsall Bowl.
Thanks-
Ryan Phalen

Away game tickets arent up yet. They should be in the next few weeks I would think.
Where can tickets to the game be purchased? I live in Maryland and don’t need a bus or hotel. I can’t wait to see my huskies defeat the Turtle and their evil Captain!
Have you tried contacting ticket information at UConn or Maryland or ticketmaster or something like that, stub hub, etc
No, not yet. I didn’t see any info online when I checked a week or two ago. I figured I’d look into it when it got closer. Thanks.
Probably best bet – if I hear of something on availability will let you know ASAP
