Q: Hey Dez, Love your work. Any word on how the season ticket numbers are looking? I have a feeling they are going to drop this go around. The quality of the product wasn’t that exciting last year (lack of offense), there is still uncertainty with the Big East/ unfamiliarity with new members and after 10 years I think some of the novelty has worn off for some fans I’ve talked to tailgating. I liked the traditions they had since opening the Rent …smoke coming out of the tunnel and the pre-game video of “What Better Place Than Here/What Better Time Than Now”. I miss those, the current pre-game events aren’t as exciting to me personally. I understand the new coach may have wanted to put his mark on the game day experience but I wish they kept those intact. I’m an alum and been a season ticket holder since the second year at the Rent and I’m having a tougher time convincing my wife and friends we sit with to renew this cycle. I hope they draw well but I saw more empty seats last year than I think I ever have – Steve, Plantsville

A: Hey Steve. We normally don’t get the numbers this early and as you know they are difficult to get and have been more difficult to get by the year for any number of reasons. Take your pick and you’re probably right. As a fan who is a season ticket-holder I understand you being worried about others and what they’re going to do and all that but man if your heart -YOUR heart – is into going to the games and following the team, then follow your heart Steve and go to the games, even if you’re the only one there.

Giving up our season tickes (8), it will be very easy to get good seats cheap in the lot. Reading the reports on CBSsports from the BCS meetings the BE will be a mid major conf. by 2014 and on the outside of the plus 1. Lets hope the Huskies move on to another conference by then.

I’ve enjoyed attending on my friend’s season ticket package for years and appreciated the smoke, etc., but the DJ last year really detracted from the game day experience for me……………

Agreed – the opening last season was a bit confusing; it all takes place up on he big screen on the opposite side of the field from where the team enters so most of the time the crowd isn’t even aware that they are running onto the field until they are running onto the field. Love the games and atmosphere and can’t wait until 8/30/12

I thought they still had the smoke…and the fireworks are new
