Q: Hey Dez, I saw that Rutgers just unveiled some nice, new Uni’s this year. Any chance that UCONN can do something like this? I know it has come up in the past. It sure would be nice to see our boys running out onto the field with new Uni’s to match their new attitude! Thanks for all that you do. Steve from 205, Griswold
A: I haven’t heard anything but there’s always a chance, I guess. When it comes to uniform unveilings there is usually some kind of announcement from marketing and or the sports information department ahead of the unveiling. Then there’s a big press conference to unveil the uniforms. That’s what happened at Rutgers. That’s what happened when UConn unveiled its new uniforms years ago, did it at Rentschler Field and all. There’s been no signs of that and I haven’t heard anything to this point about it but that doesn’t mean there won’t be something down the road. If I hear something about new uniforms or if there is information about new uniforms I will post it. Thanks Steve.

Get rid of those black high-top shoes. It makes them look like the Weaver High JV team !!!. Why is it that most of the high profile teams with great speed like LSU, Alabama,Texas,Florida State always wear white ? Black shoes on natural grass project an image of a slow plodding program. No wonder that speedy players from the south are not attracted to Uconn .
Although I love our unis I think an alternate third should be considered. How bout a grey (like Wazzu, OK St.) with our blue? Keep the logo the same but just have that kind of Dark Grey ofr jerseys/helmets. Would look great on a cold Saturday afternoon in East Hartford in Late November. Cold. Windy. Wet. Big East football at its best…get goosebumps just thinking about it.
Nobody cares about big east football. Let alone the UCONN huskies. The only good thing about UCONN is that cheater of a mens coach you have and the lady huskies.

Wow new unis are going to give the school publicity? Nobody us would hear about it unless you mean costumes rather than unis like Maryland?
If uniforms are going to get better recruits we should avoid that type of player. IQ would have to be very low to pick a school on their unis.

I agree with RST. I love the current uniforms. Why change for change’s sake?
I certainly hope not. The current uniforms have that classy understated yet modern appearance, fully consistent with the Land of Steady Habits that is CT. My vote is for no change. Why fix something that is not broken?
Usually its the uniform company that decides to make up new uniforms for the team, the schools just go along. The current uni’s are great, but getting new ones will give the school more publicity and could help the team land better recruits.
Not a fan of flamboyant uniforms (or flamboyant behavior for that matter). The Huskies should act (and be dressed) like they’ve been there before. This is Connecticut, after all. We are proud of this place.
