Q: Hey DC, how’s it going?  I hope this finds you well.  Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.  Just wondering, do you think UConn has a shot at a Bowl bid if they finish 6-6?  Would include an impressive victory over a ranked team.  Rich, West Hartford

A: Hi Rich. I am well. Hope you are, too and Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, too. They have to get there obviously but I would say yes because No.1, there are a ton of bowls out there and No.2, 6-6 will have a showed a rebound in a season that included a four-game losing streak and some one-score losses as well. Based on that I think the chances would be good – but gotta get to 6-6. Thanks Richard

This is turning into two seasons of futility. Uconn and Louisville are pushing each other out of the way to escape the BE. If UL wins Uconn is out in the cold. Non FB schools can reorg the league with no FB programs. The B 12 is not looking for a team from New England.

It may end up being a moot point, but in my humble opinion we shouldn’t accept a bowl bid if we are a mediocre 6-6. Its well documented that the school will lose a ton of money for what we’re required to buy in tickets. Coaches love the bowls because they provide job security, and I understand going for recruiting purposes/bragging rights, etc but financially it just doesn’t make sense. The whole bowl system is corrupt.

This is getting more sad every day………

Just to add: if UConn gets to 6-6 it will have meant that they beat both Louisville and Cincinnati on successive weekends to close out the season. That is about as hot as you can get at the end of the season in the BE. Second, there will be a shortage of bowl eligible teams this year due to various factors. So you would have to think that if they win out they would get a bid somehow someway.
